Since most websites and blogs have an “About Me” page, I figured I should have one as well. Here’s all about me and my TEFL adventure:
I have a bachelor’s and a master’s degree in things I am not currently interested in pursuing. I did have careers in both fields, but they aren’t really relevant here.
I started this blog when I started my adventure as an expat and traveling English teacher. While I had visited other countries for short vacations, usually 2 weeks or so, I’ve never lived outside the US before. Living and working in a foreign country, especially one where you don’t speak the language and can’t even pretend to read or understand anyone is challenging to say the least.
I was set to leave the US for China, when the pandemic hit and I had to wait almost exactly a year before starting my international teaching adventure. But, I’m on my way now!
Join me as I learn to be an English teacher, survive in China without speaking Chinese, travel around this massive country, and experience this ancient culture. Learn from my struggles and see what it’s really like living in one of the few remaining communist countries.
